Technology Today

I've been really thrown off balance with my modem's shaky connection. In the middle of writing my post about resolutions for the new year, my computer froze. Five minutes later, I got a message that the Internet Explorer has stopped working. Just like that, the post was gone.

No, this isn't a post about how knowledgeable I am about all things technological. Or even some things. This is a post about the technology in my house going rogue on me. My iMac, about 4 years old now, stopped working at a critical time. A few days later, my Internet went out. The moment it came back online, the phone went kaput. A few hours later, the modem got jealous and has been on a roller coaster ever since. We depend on the Internet more than we depend on the phone. One of my daughters attend a virtual school through HISD. The other one has her curriculum online that I've painstakingly set up. The Furbys my girls were gifted with for Christmas even rely on an App to be, er, fed. We listen to music via Spotify. I use Twitter, Facebook, or email to stay in contact with everyone and Google Drive and Dropbox to store my manuscripts, notes, covers, documents...You get the idea.

Technology, today, in my house sucks about as much as a porn star. That is the best analogy I can come up with to express my current level of frustration, LOL. Besides, when technology fails, manual labor (aka housework and laundry) is waiting in the wings. Then, again, so is a Dos Equis.
